S'ploding s'periment

I've never really done a photo manipulation outside of colour levels and the like, so this is sort of an experiment in progress. There are a lot of things I would like to do with it and if you think you could help me out (and want to help me out) that would just be real big of you. Fat even.

Here are a few things I would be most interested in hearing about:

1) How would I make make a convincing reflection off of the glasses?

2) I would like for my face and some of the surrounding area to be illuminated realistically by the glowing light given off by the hands. I think it should be subtle, but clearly there.

Thanks in advance to community for any helpful pointers I might get. This is hopefully going to be a very useful learning experience.
